Seasonal Side Hustles: 4 Ideas to Make Extra Money

Seasonal Side Hustles: 4 Ideas to Make Extra Money

Another summer of making memories has come to an end and the kids are off to school. The days and months will start to fly by and with what feels like a blink, the holiday season will be here. So now is a good time to think about earning and saving for holiday celebrations, dinners, gifts, or even just to have a little more wiggle room in your budget. A part-time or full-time seasonal job could be a helpful gig! Keep reading to find out more about seasonal job opportunities.

1. Retail Stores

It’s no surprise that stores need extra help for the holidays. From department stores and boutiques to gas stations, grocery stores, and more, these companies need associates to assist their customers. And that doesn’t mean just working sales or the check-out line. Stocking merchandise, customer service, or maintenance positions may be available.

Side note: Be sure to check if the store offers employee discounts. That’s always a nice perk!

2. Delivery Driver

If you are an online shopper like me, you’re probably well-versed in getting deliveries. People are busy and sometimes the convenience of getting your items delivered is too good to pass up. And delivery services have expanded in the last several years. Job positions can be found at lots of companies. You can look into delivery gigs with restaurants, grocery stores, online shopping companies, and more. You can even “deliver” people – or just drive them to their destinations. The beauty is at this type of job you can make your own schedules and work when it’s best for you. Keep in mind gas and maintenance costs if you’re using your own vehicle.

3. Events Staff

Temporary staff are always needed for special events like concerts, festivals, sporting games, and public gatherings. A variety of jobs can include working in ticket sales, food service, parking, security, tech crew, or setup and teardown staff. To me, this seems like the type of job that won’t easily get boring because of the different kinds of events.

Bonus - you get to experience the entertainment, even if you’re working.

4. Farm Work

It’s harvest season! And fall offers some good job opportunities. Picking fruits and vegetables, packaging produce, customer service and sales, or even being employed as part of the fun at pumpkin patches are possible positions. This could be a different type of job scenery for you and a nice change while earning that extra cash.

Is Your Side Hustle Waiting?

Start your job research now. Seasonal jobs can be filled quickly so don’t delay applying. Keep in mind that being available and flexible with your schedule could help give you an advantage over other applicants. Good luck!
